Lowbit Lowdown with Roland Klinkenberg

Celebrating our release of 'Nightfall' from Roland Klinkenberg, we caught up with him to ask him a few questions for our Lowbit Lowdown.

Hi Roland! Let's start off with a quick delve into your history - what track are you most proud of?

That would be my first record I did alone...it's from 1995 and it's called Sim 1...Actually, Sander Kleinenberg thought it was named after his girlfriend Simone ;-) It's never been released digitally I think. It's simple but it's still playable today...which can't be said of a lot of other older tracks of mine...

What was the inspiration behind 'Nightfall' and what was your process for producing the track?

It started with this percussion loop that got mangled by the Sherman
filterbank..I've built several tracks around this...hence the DUB
version. Other than that, there's not much to tell I'm afraid. I had this track
laying around for a while and every time I listened to it back, it kinda grabbed
me...dunno. It's a dark track...

What is it that drives you to make music?

It changes over time...right now, it's the mental aspect of not getting lured into a writer's block. Somehow I have managed to stay away from that for a few years now...it's a fine line, an interesting psychological game one has to play. I go into the studio with a certain mindset...it should all come naturally...you need to enjoy this..but also keep an keen eye (ear) on the quality of the sounds you add, every one should add
something relevant, otherwise ditch 'em. Also, if you have something nice going don't cling to it. If you do you'll drag it down, you'll spoil it. The process is not result driven and the track you end up with is just a result of a good time in the
studio. It's kinda spiritual, I have to say...and it works!

Have you ever had another job? And if you weren't a musician, what WOULD you be doing?

I've been building studio gear for some time now, sometimes I sell it...but I don't consider that a job. I have had small jobs in the past, nothing special, just what was available at the time...think washing dishes, being a courier etc etc. Actually, I'm not good at 'real' jobs. They never lasted longer than half a year. Getting into production full time was a nice way to escape from 'normal' society...it's been 10 years since my last job, maybe even longer. Right now I'm planning on getting back into gigging, either live or as a DJ. You can't make a living nowadays from producing alone...

What's your studio setup and how has that changed over the years?

I've switched to Ableton recently...before that it was Logic but somehow I got bored with the programme. I do have analog synths such as a Prophet 5, MS20 and the one I use the most is the SH 101. I also have a Fender Rhodes which I love. Basically, I record all analog gear so I can process it further in Ableton or put it in Simpler. I do have one VST synth...that's Aalto. You can see a picture of my studio on my Facebook page...

You've used a plethora of aliases over the years to make many styles of music. What would you say is your preferred style to produce and why?

Right now it's melodic techno and also deep house. I grew allergic to progressive...can't stand it actually. With every release I make I sincerely hope that it does not get put into progressive...but you never know...this person who puts the tracks into genres on Beatport...I suspect it's Tyler Durden.

Which artists are you rating right now/would you like to work with?

I would love to work with a good male / female singer...I've worked with several but it's always been a struggle. The reason might be that I'm not good at collabs...

What's your take on the current state of the music industry?

I try not to think about this too much...ask me in a year or so...

You disappeared from the music industry for a while - why was that and what made you return to it?

In the past 20 years I've been away several times. It always starts with boredom...and this time I also relocated to France and soon after, my son Yani was born...enough to get you distracted for some time...in a good way I should say :-) This last time I found it particularly hard to re-establish myself. In the early days I could get away with a year's absence but somehow everything is faster now...artists have a shorter lifespan. As a result I try to focus on the timeless aspect of music... not try to hitch a fast ride with whatever is hip for now. That way you'll last longer.

What music do you listen to at home/in your spare time?

Herbie Hancock, squarepusher, The Orb, FSOL, Funky Porcini, Amon Tobin...Betrand Burgalat....Black Dog.....Bowie......Hendrix.....Miles....

What would you do if you were beamed back to 1985?

Well, there are the obvious things one does when being beamed back, but besides that...I'm always wondering what setup I would have bought with today's knowledge...so, I did buy a Atari ST and a S1000...but that will now be an Akai mpc60 and then some! I think I would save up for the Eventide H3000 which did cost a fortune at the time...hmm those Akais were bloody expensive as well...

Do you ever have nights where you just get really drunk on tequila?!

What's that? Tequila? Did I drink that stuff? Can't remember much of it ;-)

Marcelo Vasami is no stranger to Lowbit, responsible for several of our top selling tracks including ‘Too Long Too Late’ and the remix of Deepfunk’s ‘Upon A Lilac Sea’ - and he now returns with a new original, ‘Everynight’. ‘Everynight’ encapsulates all that is Marcelo Vasami with its deep hypnotic bassline, dark and haunting melodies and groovy rhythms – another fantastic release from Marcelo and already a proven club hit. British producer and DJ Scotty.A joins Lowbit for the first time with his ‘Dark Dub’ remix of ‘Everynight’;focusing more on tribal inspired drums, airier pads and lighter undertones, it’s a great contrast to the darker original. Andy Arias is back on remix duty for us, putting his unique industrial influenced take on ‘Everynight’ and merging experimental sounds and soundscapes with progressive tones to create something unique. Piyush Awasthi first joined Lowbit with his original track ‘Faces’, which was remixed by Marcelo Vasami - and now it’s his turn to return the favour, upping the tempo and energy with arpeggiated acidesque bassline, chuggy drums and unique usage of the track's original parts.

Justin Oh - Teheranno EP out today.

Canadian born now residing in South Korea Justin Oh has quickly made a name for himself, consistently releasing quality after quality releases on renowned labels such as Baroque and Nueva and we're delighted to have him on Lowbit with his new EP ‘Teheranno’. The title track - named after a famous street in Korea - is dark and melancholic with its ominous spoken voice, atmospheric vocal elements and mellifluous melody. ‘Karosugil’ is also named after a famous street in Korea, and is slightly more upbeat with its protruding arpeggiated melody, chunky drums and bouncy bassline.

Canadian producer Lessov makes a very welcome return to Lowbit for his first remix duty, working his deep and intelligent approach on ‘Teheranno’ and creating a wonderful deep journey with its deep chugging pads, direct drums and delay-drenched vocals.

Gav Fraser, who has already released some very well-received originals and remixes for Lowbit, is back on board with us as he turns his magic touch to ‘Karosugil', moulding it into a really housey number full of funk with bouncy bassline, old-skool stabs and headfirst drums.

De Wachtkamer - Moon Gravitation out now!

Pasha Viarshenia aka De Wachtkamer is another new emerging artist who caught our ear with his boundary-breaking demo ‘Moon Gravitation’. Pasha describes himself as an artist that “likes to use massive hypnotic sounds with straight and broken rhythms that permeate the depths of the soul and touch on a variety of emotions” - and he certainly does that with his ‘Moon Gravitations’ EP. The title track is a dark and throbbing beast with its hypnotic bassline, vocal stabs and broken rhythms. ‘Solar Recharge’ is a lighter affair, focusing on airy guitar samples, brass-like stabs and lush pads. Wrapping up the release is ‘Chimera’, which ends up somewhere between ‘Moon Gravitation’ and ‘Solar Recharge’ with a slightly dark and twisted approach that rounds up the EP perfectly.
First up is ‘Requiem For Two Fading Flowers’, which is packed with intricate melodies, atmosphere and emotions; this track really showcases his sheer talent and ability to tell a story through music. ‘As A Heart Started To Beat’ is equally stunning in its production, while taking a slightly more dance floor oriented approach. Skilfully distilling endless emotions, its beautiful melodies perfectly demonstrate how music can take you on an epic journey.

Lank & Marco Grandi - Along The Way out now!

Lank really needs no introduction, with close to 150 releases on Beatport over the years and support from some of the biggest DJs in the world. He joins Lowbit together with Marco Grandi with their incredible ‘Along The Way’ EP. The eponymous track of the release is a fantastic piece of music with its filtered voice work, rhythmic chords, chunky drums and stylish melodies.

‘Chaka Chaka’ blends some classic house chords with deep progressive pads, which combined with an upbeat bouncy bassline and energetic drums truly creates something unique.

Luke Porter is back on Lowbit remixing ‘Along The Way’. Putting his trademark deep yet energetic touch to the track, he morphs the original into a truly epic masterpiece that has already proven to raise the roof of the main room in Ministry Of Sound in the hands of Hernan Cattaneo.

David Granha should be counted as one of the new young artists that really think outside the box when it comes to music and it shows in his remix of ‘Chaka Chaka’; blending a deep rough bassline with live recorded pianos, guitars and strings with powerful drums, he has created a deliciously distinctive rework.

Wrapping up the release are the guys behind Lowbit, Bastards of Funk & Sonic Union, who go back to their roots on their remix of ‘Chaka Chaka’. With an upbeat bassline and crisp, punchy percussion, the duo have struck the perfect balance between deep and funk. The added dose of melody rounds out a great little groover which will work at any time of the night in a club.

Rich Curtis - RTFM out now!

Rich Curtis is relatively new to the production side of things, but has already racked up an impressive release list on labels such as Replug, Stripped and Tulipa and it’s a great pleasure to welcome this Australian rising star to Lowbit. First up is ‘RTFM’, which starts off very stripped back with just a kick and some rhythmic atmospheric elements, slowly builds by adding pulsating pads and a deep yet bouncy bassline, then rounds off with big sweeping pads. ‘Ped-Xing Texting’ starts off with a heavy filtered bassline and, much like ‘RTFM’, the track slowly builds, layering elements until a distorted pulsating pad grabs the main focus and adds to the hypnotic vibe of the track.

Fellow Australian Ketracel delivers the remix of ‘RTFM’, taking a lighter, airy approach. With an upbeat bassline, light drums and stylish arpeggiated melodies, he moulds it into a lush housey track.

Wrapping up the release is yet another awesome Aussie, CJM, with his remix of ‘Ped-Xing Texting’. Delivering a more upbeat, chunky version, he focuses more on the brighter parts of the original, adding his own twist to it and transforming it to a fantastic hypnotic track.
On the flip side we have ‘Blueberries’, with its deep nuances and techier vibe encompassing a deep bouncy bassline, rhythmic and hypnotic stabs and filtered voice loops - just perfect for the early night warm-up.

Fernando Ferreyra & Mariano Favre - Recovery out now!

Fernando Ferreyra & Mariano Favre are both relatively new to the scene but both have already managed to establish themselves with releases on Outside the Box and BCSA and it’s a pleasure to welcome them to Lowbit. ‘Recovery’ is a soulful and delicate track filled with intricate details, yet it contains great energy provided by its lush pads, animated drums and warm melodies - a fantastic start to many more releases on Lowbit.

Italian producers Andrea Cassino and Danny Lloyd team up again after their very successful 2011 ‘Green Endless’ EP to deliver the first remix of ‘Recovery’. Infusing the track with a lot of funk, with its modulating bassline, stripped back soundscape, affecting melodies and heavily processed effects, this is another hit delivered by this very talented duo.

Soulwerk was probably one of the quickest rising stars last year, releasing on some of the most coveted underground labels on the scene like Replug, Mirabilis and Tulipa, and it's an honour to welcome him to Lowbit with his ‘Recovery’ Remix. Taking a very deep approach focusing heavily on atmosphere, bouncy bassline and hypnotic melodies, this is truly a musical masterpiece.

David Granha has become somewhat of a staple on Lowbit and it’s no wonder when his productions always stretch the boundaries, delivering something you least expect and never failing to impress. David’s remix of ‘Recovery’ adds a subtle hint of Middle Eastern flavour, filling it with astonishing melodies and a dancefloor-friendly vibe; overall, a fantastic wrap up of this EP.

Luis Bondio & Leo Rojas - Classound EP out now!

Another dynamic Argentinian duo joins the Lowbit stable as we welcome Luis Bondio & Leo Rojas with their debut release for us, 'Classound'. Starting with light arpeggios and building with atmospheric pads and elements, the additions of a deep and vibrating bassline topped with relaxed drums make for a great musical journey.

We're delighted to have Greek super producer Nikko.Z back on Lowbit remixing 'Classound'; kicking up the tempo with a quick dark bassline, mesmerizing atmospheric melodies and hefty drums, he moulds the airy original into a dark beast.

Meanwhile fellow Argentinian producer Andy Arias - also new to Lowbit - grabs your attention right away with his version of 'Classound'. With its heavy drums, distorted melodies and pounding bassline, this remix delivers something truly different.

Last but not certainly least, Diego Poblets- another Argentinian producer making his Lowbit debut - wraps up the release of 'Classound' with his slightly melancholic approach. With dreamy pads, dark atmospheric undertones and a pulsating bassline, his remix proves a perfect end to this fantastic release.

Piyush Awasti - Faces out now!

Piyush Awasthi is a relatively new name in the dance music community but has already released material on some well-respected labels including Whose Haus, Baroque and Stripped Recordings, and it’s a pleasure to welcome this hard working producer to Lowbit with his track 'Faces'. Starting the track with stripped back drums, chirpy chords and a filtered bassline, he builds the track up by layering arpeggios and swelling pads and then tops it off with some driving drums, creating a fantastic euphoric journey.

Also new to Lowbit is a duo we have been wanting to work with for a long time and it’s a real honour to have Guy Mantzur & Khen deliver the first remix of 'Faces'. Starting with bouncy drums, filtering in chords and a growling acidesque bassline, the dynamic duo add sidechained pads and hypnotic melodies to create a sure fire dance floor destroyer.

One of our favorite producers, Marcelo Vasami, returns to Lowbit to wrap up ‘Faces’ and he does so in style! Taking a deeper approach, with its subtle bubbling bassline, lush pads, persistent drums and atmospheric vibe, this is the perfect complement to the release. Already tried and tested by Hernan Cattaneo and aired on his radio show, we are very happy to release this one to the world.
He then teams up with Makotrax for the second track in this EP, ‘Cloud Base’. Kicking things off with layered percussions and building with animated pads and mesmerizing plucky melodies, there’s no doubt that both these tracks deliver something very special.

Mccarthey & Yarranton - London To Athens

Pete Mccarthey was one of the fastest-rising new talents in progressive house during 2011 with his superb production skills and attention to detail marking him out as one to watch – and now he has teamed up with fellow Lowbit artist Anthony Yarranton, known for his deep and effective tunes, for cross-country collaboration ‘London to Athens’. Taking influences from both producers, the track is deep yet full of energy with its driving bassline, staccato percussion programming and atmospheric melodies; a sure fire dance floor hit!

Argentinian producers make up a large part of Lowbit’s roster and we are very happy to welcome Argentinian producer and DJ Juan Goya aka Sound Process to the label with his masterful remix of ‘London to Athens’! Taking the energy from the original and infusing it with even more, his remix focuses heavily on atmospheric melodies and minimalistic drums and has already proven to work wonders in the clubs.

Oscitone & Andy Newland - both new to Lowbit - wrap up the release with their interpretation of ‘London to Athens’, taking a more stripped back and deeper approach with a squelchy bassline as the main focus and heavily processed parts from the original, forming a great contrast to the original and a great addition to the package.
The title track delves deep into house territory with its funky bassline, filtered chords and chunky drums, while ‘Don’t Drink Too Much’ keeps the funky vibe going, adding an oriental flavour with its melodies upping the energetic flow.

Hassan Rassmy, Lacandon & VeNes - Imotep out now.

Lacandon & VeNes are well known for their outside-the-box thinking when it comes to music and it shows in their collaboration with Hassan Rassmy entitled ‘Imotep’ - the first release on Lowbit for this trio. Blending styles and elements from a wide variety of music, it’s hard to pinpoint a single influence but safe to say that the result is something spectacular.

We have been fans of American producer and DJ Josh Abrams for quite some time now and it’s a pleasure to welcome him to the Lowbit ranks for his remix of ‘Imotep’. Josh takes a deeper approach to his remix, adding big lush pads and stripping back the drums while bringing the melodies into focus.

German duo Hyline & Jaybeetrax return to Lowbit with another stellar remix. In contrast to both the original and the Josh Abrams remix, our dynamic duo go darker and faster with a big heavy bassline, driving rhythms and rhythmic stabs, with vocal chants adding a nice twist to it all.

Glitter 2011 Edit Part 2 out now!

Ben Coda is fast becoming one of the biggest hitters in the progressive and tech-house scenes and is a big favourite with Lowbit fans, so we're delighted to have him back on the label. Giving 'Glitter' a thrilling techy makeover, his remix strikes a beautiful balance between dramatically driving drums and growling bassline and light, airy layers of synth melodies that echo the uplifting nature of the original.

Steve Haines brings out the best elements of the original in his remix while simultaneously creating a really fresh take on the track. Banging out a seriously deep and dark bassline accompanied by squelchy stabs, Steve contrasts these with airy pads and sweepingly uplifting strings to make his remix a driving dancefloor bomb.

Outlook is a young UK progressive house producer who is fast putting himself on the map and was a well-deserved runner up in the 'Glitter' remix competition. His take on 'Glitter' is trademark Outlook, with absolutely lush chord progressions and spine-tinglingly warm pad work making this an outstanding part of the package.

Aussie producer inSilico meanwhile came third in the remix competition and is another fresh talent who's well worth watching out for. Taking 'Glitter' down a more techy road, he injects it with a throbbing bassline and rippling, rhythmic layers of squelchy synths to give it a whole new hypnotic twist that will work fantastically well on the dancefloor.

Glitter 2011 Edit Part 1 out now!

Bastards of Funk & Sonic Union's 'Glitter' has become an iconic track in the pantheon of progressive house since its release in 2009. It was featured on the Global Underground 2009 compilation, has had over 10,000 views on YouTube and the mighty PROFF has declared it one of his favourite tracks of all time and one that he still plays out - as evidenced by his inclusion of 'Glitter' in his Kazantip set earlier this year. Following the recent Lowbit & FindRemix 'Glitter' remix competition we are delighted to present the first of two 'Glitter' remix packages to come this year.

'Glitter 2011 Part 1' kicks off with the Bastards of Funk & Sonic Union edit of the track, which kicks off with the same instantly driving drums and that standout lead chord of the original. But don't be fooled into thinking that this is just another clone of its predecessor, because this version of 'Glitter' has morphed into an edgier, fiercer echo of its original self, with a new electro edge, a subtly interwoven, more melancholic take on the original melody and a bittersweet bite.

Next up is the mighty Soundprank, making his eagerly anticipated debut on Lowbit with a remix that can only be described as a masterclass in melody, atmosphere and emotion. The original elements of 'Glitter' take a back seat here as Soundprank makes the track totally his own - although intimately inspired by the original's energy. Starting off in very deep, melodic territory, you're lured in by hypnotic chords, intense layers of suspense and atmosphere and a truly momentous breakdown that once experienced will never be forgotten.

Polish powerhouse Kobana meanwhile has created a stunningly powerful remix that hooks you in with majestic, shimmering, summery waves of melody underlaid with the deep bassline of the original and contrasted with the twist of a vocal stab. Thus does Kobana create an epically dramatic build-up that segues smoothly into a beatifully warm, uplifting, emotive rework that instils a nostalgia for summer sunshine and a longing to hear more.

Last but not least Lowbit is proud to present the winner of the remix competition, D-Eye, whose remix grabs your attention right away with its energetic drums and bassline, punctuated by percussive flourishes and squelchy rhythmic chords. Gradually he filters in the original bassline and topline melody but successfully manages to make the track his own by building a peak-time dancefloor demon with enough energy to power the National Grid that simultaneously retains subtle flashes of the original's summery disposition.

Amsterdam-based Adam Oland is a bright young new talent on the progressive house scene who's already making a name for himself with releases on respected labels such as Nueva and Indigo; we are therefore delighted that Adam has joined Lowbit with a fresh 2 track EP.
‘Melokon’ starts off with rhythmic stabs, atmospheric arpeggios and lush pads, building towards a stripped back melodic breakdown and slowly adding elements to become a full-on euphoric melodic peak-time track.

‘Amilya’ takes some inspiration from Eric Prydz with its easy and airy arpeggios, stripped back drums and big electric bassline...and with its truly epic final breakdown, this track is guaranteed to take the dance floor by storm!
'Loud' is true to the duo's trademark sound with its energetic and driving drum programming, heavy melodic chord stabs and rhythmic percussive work. For the second track in this release, entitled 'Journey', Q.U.A.K.E team up with fellow Israel Minimize.
Hyline & Jaybeetrax - Awake out now.

It’s been almost a year since the German duo Hyline & Jaybeetrax joined Lowbit with their remix of label owners Bastards of Funk & Sonic Union’s track ‘Mr Walker’. They now return with their first original for Lowbit, entitled ‘Awake’, an energetic and powerful track with its driving piano-esque melody, filtered noise sweeps and big pads. Its atypical middle breakdown shatters the mould of the track, mixing things up nicely while slowly building the track back up to its full on dance floor peak.

Our good friend Bambook returns to Lowbit with a new collaborator, Adamwah, for the first of 4 remixes for ‘Awake’. Having recently joined the classic imprint Global Underground, we are delighted to welcome Bambook back again. Going darker and more menacing with a slight old-school rave feel to it, Bambook and Adamwah’s remix is sure to please a lot of people.

Soulfire, owner of the respected ‘Soulfire Downloads’ label and also new to Lowbit, puts his remixing skills to superb use on ‘Awake,’ turning down the tempo and creating a deep and melancholic interpretation just perfect for early sets or closing in the early morning.

Diego Iglesias has quickly become a name to keep your eye on, with highly successful remixes and releases on Aegyptia & Liquid Grooves under his belt as well as running the very popular remix competition site ‘FindRemix’. Diego moulds ‘Awake’ into a deep yet animated track and adds a new layer of melodies.

Wrapping up the release are Indian duo Dual Drive, also new to Lowbit, whose remix twists ‘Awake’ into a perfect techy and progressive mashup with its ambient chord work, powerful drums and electric bassline.

Kobana & Yane3dots - Nuclear Friction out now!

The last Lowbit outing for Poland's premier progressive exports Kobana & Yane3Dots - their April 2011 remix of Derek Howell's 'Riding In Taxis' - was such a success that it's still our second best-selling release of all time. So we're delighted to welcome them back with 'Nuclear Friction'. Grabbing your attention right from the start with its growling bassline and gradually adding layers of atmosphere, 'Nuclear Friction' builds and builds to a climax of fierce stabs and edgy synths, underlaid with a driving groove and dangerously addictive melodies. A certified dancefloor bomb, ‘Nuclear Friction’ couldn’t have a more appropriate name!

Making his debut on Lowbit, acclaimed Australian producer Luke Porter’s remix of ‘Nuclear Friction’ delves into slightly deeper territory. Reverberating waves of synths ripple over the squelchy, techy bassline while warm pads and subtle topline melodies develop into an intensely atmospheric, euphoric take on the track.

Also new to the Lowbit ranks is Colorless aka Israel’s Alex Bass, whose remix kicks off with driving drums and squelching synths to deliver a dramatic tech-house twist on the track, before a magnificently melancholic breakdown gives way to a pulsating groove that you will be powerless to resist!

Lessov - Calibra EP out now.

Lessov is a relatively new artist on the scene but one who has already managed to release some amazing tunes on well-respected labels like Spring Tube, Arrival and Nueva Digital - and we are very happy to welcome Lessov to the Lowbit family with his new EP. ‘Calibra’ starts off with soft strings and subtle rhythms, slowly adding rhythmical layers. With its deep and vibrating bassline topped off with some easy arpeggios and well-placed chord work, it becomes a beautifully deep and emotional track. ‘Whispers’ is even deeper then ‘Calibra’ and focuses a lot on vocal stabs, airy strings and an enticing piano melody. With its bittersweet melancholic despondency, you can’t help but be affected by its beauty.

Gav Fraser - Palpitations out now.

Gav Fraser made a stunning debut on Lowbit earlier this year with his acclaimed remix of 21street’s ‘Plastique’, and now he’s back with his first original for us entitled ‘Palpitations’. 'Palpitations' was written with the dance floor in mind with its chunky beats, moving conga rhythms and its old-school stabs. It’s a great groover that’s perfect for the peak-time kickoff. 21street have been very busy in 2011 blasting out progressive hit after hit and they return the remix favor for Gav for ‘Palpitations’. Bringing their trademark sound to the remix they add a slightly darker nuance to the track while increasing the energy, resulting in a perfect peak time dance floor track.

Andrea Cassino & Danny Lloyd - Green Endless

Andrea Cassino is no stranger to Lowbit. Having released several very successful remixes with us we were super thrilled to sign his ‘Green Endless’ EP, a collaboration with fellow Italian producer Danny Lloyd. The 3 track EP starts off with the eponymous title track ‘Green Endless’, a deep and emotional journey through lush soundscapes. ‘Invisible’ goes even deeper with its beautiful and mellow chord work, subtle guitar riffs and vocal stabs. ‘Borotalco’ wraps things up in style with its slightly more industrial and minimal approach. All in all, a fantastic collaboration that we hope to see more from in the future!

Preview Lowbits 50th release!

Lowbit is reaching a new milestone - our 50th release! - and we couldn’t be happier with the support we have gotten from you so far! To celebrate, we are proud to present a very special release from Ivan Jaime & Andres Lopez entitled ‘Angel Signs’. This multifaceted emotional gem starts off with a layer of drums and heavily filtered chords, slowly adding to the ethereal atmosphere until it erupts into melodic bliss. It’s a beautifully produced track with so many emotions conveyed in it that you can’t help but be moved by it.

Sweden’s best kept secret in dance music has to be Karl Johan and he joins Lowbit delivering the first remix of ‘Angel Signs’. Karl Johan has transformed the emotional original into an absolute dance floor nuclear bomb with its massive deep growling bassline, driving chord work and hypnotic drums. We already know that this will send the dance floor into a frenzy!

Lithuania’s Weepee - also new to Lowbit - takes the reins on the second remix of ‘Angel Signs’ and does so expertly, blending a growling acid-style bassline with a bouncy sub bassline, heavy drums and stylish melodies while still managing to capture and convey the emotions from the original.

What an amazing package for our 50th release and thank you again for your support of Lowbit - without it, we wouldn’t be here today!

Glitter winners announced.

We wanted to thank everyone who entered the ‘Glitter’ remix competition and we were very excited to hear so many good entries. It was a really tough choice to make, but after much deliberation we have picked the winners.

#1 D-Eye Remix: The reason we chose this as the winner is that we feel it has a strong foundation, some nice intricate rhythms and strong crossovers with a solid bassline. It’s a great track, and in our view this was the remixer who showed the most versatility in changing and transforming the track between soft/deep/techy. Nice work indeed.

#2 Outlook Remix: Nice crispy, professional sound with sweet melodies and arpeggios. A track that works well on sunny days, sipping ice cold drinks at the beach.

#3 inSilico Remix: Great energetic remix with well-produced melodies, tight drums and a nice deep bassline. This remix retains the core of the original while putting its own twist on it.

A very special thanks to FindRemix for hosting the competition and Rob Papen, MellowMuse, MeldaProductions & Cytomic for supplying the prizes!
